Snowdrops and Daffodils

I have put some snowdrops an daffodils as a next panel. The daffodils are ready, the snowdrops are fused, but not sewn yet, and the roots of the bulbs are also missing. 

I am contemplating a stronger yellow thread for the daffodils, because there is hardly any contrast. On the original there are some white flowers which are not seen in Hungary, so I am planning to change them to tulips  but I will see.

String along

I am using up my neutral strings, of which I have a huge amount. I thought it will be a leader/ender, but yesterday I felt like piecing, so to the original 7 greens I added 17 blues, arriving to 24 out of the 63 I will need.

Winter Maize - Cyclamen galore

I have started the applique for Winter Maize. I finished the 4 cyclamens, and it is good to touch all the nice fabrics and choose all the different hues. All the 4 are a little different, and I took the remains of the batiks of my Something Fishy (summer quilt), and they are playing along superbly. 

2021 wrap up

So let's see what did I do in 2021. It was not a very productive year, but still I finished more than I thought. Instead stitching I read a lot (good!) and played a game called Planet Zoo (not that good). However, I was pushing to clean up the unfinished cross stitch basket, and I have managed to put the finishing touches to the Nativity Sampler, and gave away one with an acryl floss, what I will never finish.

Polka dots

I have finished this polka dot quilt for my niece, a few weeks (months?) back. She had chosen several designs, and the first I have prepared for her went finally to the teacher of my son last June. I was thinking choosing a different one, and the rainbow dots gave the idea. It has extra soft minky-like backing, which is also dotted. 

It was a very quick finish, the background is white-on-white 10"x10" blocks with an appliqued circle of 5". I sewed the rows with a half shift to give a little play to the design, and arranged the colorful dots as you can see. 27 circles all together: 8 green, 4 blue, 5 yellow, 5 pink, 5 purple.

I used 27 5"x5" charms for the dots, 30 10"x10 for the background, and 1m 1.5wide minkie for the backing. Approximately 1.5m material for the top, 1m for the back, all together 2.5m (2.5yard) fabric usage to finish.

Farewell 2020, welcome 2021!

2020 flew away, the real proof that when I started to write the post I wrote farewell 2019 first! It was a long year, but also a very short one. I mostly loved the staying-at-home part, with some minor breaks. I really enjoyed cooking for the family, having lots of time for table games, spending our weekends in the woods with long trekkings. During autumn I worked a lot, somehow homeoffice took over, and I could not close the computer in time. Then came the last 3 weeks what I spent with family, trying not to think on work - mostly I was successful despite all the effort of the government who came out many new ideas which affects my work. I planned many things I wanted to do in these 3 weeks - and I hardly did anything, but I decided I have a whole year of 2021 to do what I want, so no worries, my plans are waiting.

So let's see what did I do in 2020:
