2021 wrap up

So let's see what did I do in 2021. It was not a very productive year, but still I finished more than I thought. Instead stitching I read a lot (good!) and played a game called Planet Zoo (not that good). However, I was pushing to clean up the unfinished cross stitch basket, and I have managed to put the finishing touches to the Nativity Sampler, and gave away one with an acryl floss, what I will never finish.

So my list is the following:

Cross stitch:

Finishes & partings:

Heirloom Nativity Sampler by The Victoria Sampler  - finally finished the little hardanger missing, started in 2014 November. I did not managed to take it to the framer, but I will in 2022. The real colors are in between the 2 photos.

I realised I will never finish it, so I gave it away

Around the World in Stitches by Papillon Creations-

I did manage to mount it on a cardboard and finally bought a box to be mounted on, but did not finish it fully. I have started it in 2018 and finished in 2020.

A long waited FINISH!

This week during my homecation I went through many things to be cleaned and fixed, and I decided I will tackle my list of wip/ufos as well.

I offered the Autumn cottage for adoption, because I do not like the floss included. It is a wool acrylic blend and maybe I am turning to a silk snob, but I realised I really do not like to touch the acrylic. It was quickly taken, and one is off the list.

The second one was a long time piece:it took me quite a while, but finally I have finished my Nativity Sampler from Victoria Sampler. The hardanger part was sitting in my wip (ufo?) basket almost 4 years. It was my holiday tracel piece, and it has a loooong history. First I started in 2011 but on a wrong fabric, so I stopped at the top angels and framed it separately. I restarted in 2014 July, and worked on during the holiday until 2017, when the kloster blocks were ready. And then I was afraid to move further, because my hardanger ventures were long-long time ago. Then the pandemic hit, and no travels were done. Then ... no real excuses, but stalling. After braving myself it was a quick finish, only took 2 afternoons. My hardarnger far from perfect, but not that bad, and I only cut 3 wrong lines :)

Holiday brings in Christmas

We went for a short holiday, and I took my Official Holiday Piece with me: Victoria Sampler here I go! I finished the tableau with baby Jesus and the parents last time in July, and now I managed to put a lacy line and a shepherd with a sheep in. Not much but better than nothing with 2 little ones next to lake Balaton.

Back to Winter

I have promised some summer sunshine, but before that, I want to show a little snowy landscape. Between Knotgardens I went back to an old WIP, a Heirloom Nativity Sampler started last July during our summer holiday. I will take it as a travelling piece with me for this year holiday, but in the meantime I did some stitching and almost the same amount of frogging: I left 2 rows out of the tree, so all the animals and the shed was picked and restitched when I realised something is amiss.

IHSW: Angyalok a vonaton / Angels on the train

End of the last IHSW weekend of the year. Althought I was planning to continue my train, little Christmas Cherubs were slipping into my hands. The picture is the top of Victoria Sampler's Heirloom Nativity Sampler, what  had started a few months back on a wrong fabric (meaning the my order was mixed up and I got a different one from the shop, and I did not like the result). To save the day I finished the top patterns and I made a little gift for my Mum, who is making me little remarks about how nice it would be to have some cherubs under the tree...And this is the first time that I did the framing myself!

Well, my train was moving on a little, if not much, the house over the cookies is the result.

Karácsonyi hangulat / Feeling like Christmas

I decided not to start the Chatelaine designs because I do not have 32 ct linen (Belfast) only cotton, and that is not the same. So I need some more time, and I took out my Nativity and made a small progress. However, during stitching  have realised that most probably mixed my materials at 123stitch, because on the Victoria Sampler homepage the background is much darker, you should see the white much more. I quickly wrote to 123stitch and I am waiting for their answer what can we do in such case. I am really on the bad side of the stitching god...I think it is not ugly with this fabbie, but the original is much nicer....

Heirloom Nativity Sampler

A héten elkezdtem Victoria Sampler Heirloom Nativity Samplerét.

I have started Victoria Sampler's Heirloom Nativity Sampler. I became a little Cinderella, because the first step was the sorting of floss and beads. And it is not a joke, the 5 different type of beads arrived in one sack. After I cut the photocopy of my pattern sheet to smaller pieces and glued to one page the pattern, the colour code and the working instructions corresponding to each other. On the long run it makes much easier for me to do the stitching. And finally I have starte the actual work. I have manage to finish only a tiny piece, because the preparatory time was quite long, but it worth the effort. Photos coming later on...
