I was very happy and proud, because I entered a national competition and fair for cross stitch, and I got the 3st place for Spring Knotgarden. There were 500+ participants and this is the most known competition in Hungary, organised by a shop for the 12th time every year. If you want to see more photos, you can find many beautiful ones on Jade's blog.

Nagy öröm / Great pleasure

Kertek keretben - Gardens in frame
Kattintsatok a képekre!
I got the framed Gardens from the framer, I really like the outcome. Th picture it looks brown, but in reality it is with a little silver effect, goes very well with the greys and blues. I opted against the cardboard frame (passepartout?) because it suppresses the pattern. Click on the photos for a better look.

Itt a Tavasz - Spring finish
It was a long time ago that I wrote anything to you. Since I've been back to work I manage time to read your blogs, but it is a luxury to find a little slot to write my own. But now I decided it cannot go on like this, and made some photos of the finished Spring Knotgarden. I put the last stitches in at the end of January, and it is beautiful! I am thinking when to start its sister Summer and brother Winter, they are exitedly skirming in their packages...

Tavaszi forduló / Spring is all around
Thanks for all the really nice comments for my little train, it felt good to have so much appreciation :) Now, that I finished the dragonling, I turned back to Spring Knotgarden. I was working mostly on the border, and now and then, when it became extremely boring put some stitches to the middle as well. There are some little plants in the meadow and I was playing around for a better effect. In the first picture no backstich, you can hardly see the plants.
Közben Ineke blogján jó ötletet láttam kicserélte vékony sötét fonalra a vastag kék Edmar Rayon-t. Én is követtem a példáját, sokkal szebb szerintem!
The first is the official pattern, but I did not like the blue rayon at all. In the meantime I have seen Ineke's blog that she changed it to a dark backstitch and I followed the lead: much nicer, isn't is? But to frog the rayon - ugh, never again!
És ahol most tartok:

Tavaszi hangulatban / Feeling Springy
It was quite a while since I managed to share something with you, but I do not have enough time even to stitch, not mentioning blogging... Despite my promise to finish 1 page of my train each month, in March I preferred to stick to Spring Knotgarden. I was not extremely successful, but as the Hungarian saying goes "who does not value the small, does not deserve the big one"! I finally finished the framing bushes on one side - it is really tough, but the second half was much quicker than the first. Since I backstitched the little bushes with blue I have seen a much nicer finish at Ineke's blog, with one ply of dark green instead of the Marlitt Rayon. I think I will frog and change them in the near future.

Spring had arrived
Spring had arrived to Hungary, and I have been working on the upper right corner of Spring Knotgarden this week. It was quite difficult to get over the one over one little flowers - I started at least 4 times in the last months and always gave up after a few stitches - but once I found out how to proceed it went quite well. First time for me to do one over one, and mixed with quarted, half and regular stitches was quite a challenge. But finally I managed, and I hope the next side will be easier!

Itt vagyok november! / November here I come
First of all welcome all my new followers, I have reached the magic 50 in less than 4 month! I think the IHSW weekends are helping me a lot, so triple thanks to Joyce for organising them!
October is over, and I have joined -little lately- Spring Knotgarden team this month. Chatelaine design are distributed via yahoogroup, we receive the parts at the beginning of each 2nd month, so I got 5th part of Spring Knotgarden and 3rd part of Autumn Knotgarden today. I have to decide how to proceed: my main project so far is my Dragonling (Train of Dreams) and I supposed to finish minimum 1 page each month, usually at the beginning of the month. But now I am 100% into gardening, so maybe I continue with them. By this I can catch up with Spring, Autumn is on track. I will decide by tomorrow, today is for Spring. Here is my progress, almost 3/4 finished but no beading for part 2-4 yet.

I've been working on Spring Knotgarden recently, althought my progresss is much slower than expected. I realised the worst is for me when I have to use several shades of the same colour, I loose my speed. And the background of the flower medallions is 4type of blue. So I am fighting. I cannot imagine how do people manage to finish a HAED using 100 shades of crimson or green...

And I was also carving a Halloween pumpkin. It is not a custom in Hungary, but Andris really liked it. He runs to the window (the pumpkin is peeping into the flat from outside) and shows me that töö, töö (tök is pumpkin is Hungarian - another language lesson)
Happy Halloween!

Változott a taktika / New strategy
Most a 2.
I was continuing my Spring Knotgarden, but I have introduced a new strategy. I do not follow the parts, because the 1st quarter of Part 2 was a little bit over the line, but I do the quarters of design. I have finished the right side of Part2 and Part3, and I proudly present my very first blackwork. I was worried a little, because backstitching is not my favourite, but it was much easier and quicker. And I also managed the art of rice stitches. And changing the strategy was useful - I did not like part 2 (the leaves and the background of the blue flower) but part 3 was really fun: blackwork, rice stitch of the small white flowers, and the jessicas for the big blue flowers.

IHSW Tavaszváró / Waiting for the Spring
Althought it is only midAutumn, I have started Spring Knotgarden for IHSW. From the 4 seasonal knotgardens this is my favourite, and with a small, half-year lag I have joined the team. The pattern, the fabric, the floss is beautiful, it is soooo much pleasure to stitch! I have slightly changed the original, the flowers in the corners are supposed to be a very light yellowish pink (Fragipani of Caron Waterlilies), but on the antique white Zweigart they are kind of invisible, and it would be a shame not to show their fragile little petals. As a tribute to the design (or maybe to help my almost nonexisting photo skills) the the sun came out to see all the sparkling. In the next pics I will show you how it was done:
1. Sima keresztszemes hímzés DMC, selyem és metálfonalakkal. Simple stitches with DMC, silks and metallics:
2. Seciális öltésekkel kiegészítve - Speciality stitches added:
3. Gyöngyökkel - Beaded
4. És az 1. rész vége, a kövek is felbiggyesztve - And end of Part1, sparklies included:

Mit varr a postás felesége?
