Moving scrappy

This is where I am now. I used Vliesofix for the backing to put the squares together. It made quite a stiff material from the fabric I used, and the little size of the 2inch squares did not help either. I hope the extrasoft backing will help. There will ba a white border and the binding id a colourful one as well. Now I know how to make extrascrappy rainbow quilt.

Autumn Watergarden

Chatelaine: Autumn Watergarden
Fonal/Floss: DMC + many silks as suggested in the kit
Anyag/Fabric: Zweigart antique white 32 ct Belfast

I have restarted stitching after quite a long hiatus. Somehow I lost my mojo, but the Easter holiday staying at home brought it back. I hope it stays with me for good! I have realised the main problem that the colors are not to my liking, they are kind of foggy greyish autumn instead of the rich golden ones. But I take one step a time, and when I am not bothered that I am going slowly it moves forward - and actually it moves forward quite quickly!

There is everything all right in this corner of the world. I have been working from home for almost a month. My son it homeschooling himself (very proud mom of a 10 years old, who does schooling independently!) because I have huge amount of workload. The good thing is that the homeoffice works smoothly, colleagues are extracooperative, so whatever can be done is done- but during the day I have hardly a minute free. Luckily my husband also works from home 4days a week, and his workload is significantly less, so he takes care of afternoon entertainment and in case some extradifficult task pops up. All the family is healthy, we are keeping distance, fridge is full - whatever could have been done is done, all the others will be taken care when it is needed.

Start of 2020 - list of WIP

I was not doing many crafts recently, but reading everyone's blogs about new years plans, list of 2019, list of 2020 etc, I got in the mood to make an inventory, and who knows, it can even start to bring me back to crafting and blogging again!

So the list:

STITCHING:

1. Chatelaine Pomarium - tiny bit more than halfway, started in 2016 December

2. Chatelaine Autumn Watergarden, 1st quarter part 5  - started in 2019 August

3. Heirloom Nativity Sampler - almost finished, only a little hardanger missing, started in 2014 November. This was my holiday travel piece in the last couple of years.

4. Riolis 1079 Autumn forest - small part done, started in 2018 summer

5. Around the World in Stitches - finished stitching, mounting to a box missing, started in 2012. This can be a nice parting present for the teacher of my son who will leave the primary school this summer.

QUILTING

1. Round the year by BatukBandi - 4 out of 16, started in 2018 October

2. Strolling along paths of green by Yoko Saito - piecing done, quilting and binding missing. Started in 2018, finished the top in 2018 November and waiting for the finish since...

SEWING

A T-shirt where only the neckline should be sewn on, done in 2019 summer. It looks like some rag since it was pushed into a corner of my sewing cupboard. Definitely a must, since it should take like 10 minutes to finish it up...

2020 - Balance (Tree of life)

I am participating in a coaching course by ICF, and one part is a peer coaching, where we are practicing on each other. For my coach I made a little present, it is called Balance and relates to one of our discussions. I really like the tree of life concept and I was thinking to make one for a time. Once she showed me an image how growth can be perceived through plant images - there are ones nice above the ground, but there are also which are not eye-catching outside, but has deep roots.   It came to me, that it is like a tree of life, but to have balance you need both - up and down, in and out. That is what I tried to capture in this. She really likes colours and I used bold ones to show it is full of life - I hope she will like it!

Last finish 2019

I was thinking to lengthen the cover I made for our armchair, because it was always falling down, so I quickly took some precuts from my scrapbin (it was me who cut them to 5"x5") an whipped up this small extension in no time.

The most difficult part was how to attach it to the already binded existing one, since it had no separate binding, but the backing was turned over. Finally I partially cut the seams at the top, where the new piece was attached, turned the existing backing under the original top and stitched it together. For the new part I simply binded as usual, with a scrappy binding, and for stitched a little overlap for the old part. I cannot say it is the most sophisticated solution, but it was easy, and since it is mostly behind the armchair, nobody will see it - except you in the photo... The greyish solid it the original border for the top.
